CLEVELAND (August 4, 2026) – Today, Rock Entertainment Group (REG), the umbrella entity that houses Dan Gilbert’s sports and entertainment properties, including the Cleveland Cavaliers, unveiled the name and brand identity for Cleveland’s WNBA franchise: Cleveland Sirens.
Owned and operated by Rock Entertainment Group and Chairman Dan Gilbert, the Cleveland Sirens will begin play as the WNBA’s 16th franchise at Rocket Arena in the 2028 season.

The Cleveland Sirens name embodies the energy, resilience and unapologetic passion that define Northeast Ohio. It evokes the force of Lake Erie, Cleveland’s defining natural asset and source of civic pride, and delivers an unmistakable call for fans to be part of something greater than themselves. The identity distinctly and authentically represents Cleveland, a city shaped by its lakefront, which serves as the region’s gathering place. The name and brand are a product of a year-long, regionalized, fan-informed process.
The logo captures the Siren’s fluid motion as the character underlines the team’s name from beneath the surface, commanding the depths while the tail and basketball crest the waves. The leading “S” in the Cleveland Sirens wordmark conceals “C” (Cleveland), “S” (Sirens) and “CLE” within its form, with its tip curving into a trident. Accent swashes bookend the wordmark, rippling outward like the reverberating sound waves of a siren’s call. The color palette of Sirens Blue and Erie Blue draws on the hues of Lake Erie and pays homage to the Cleveland Rockers, who competed in the WNBA from 1997 to 2003. A complementary mint foam color adds vibrancy and depth in select applications.

During the team’s brand reveal at Rocket Arena, the Cleveland Sirens announced a $28,000 grant to support FORWARD Girls Leadership Academy, Ohio’s first tuition-free, all-girls public high school, opening this August. The grant will fund a new dance and aerobics studio, provide all students with FORWARD-branded gym uniforms and deliver coaching support, youth clinics and mentorship opportunities.
To date, the Cleveland Sirens have hosted 40 events across Ohio, Western Pennsylvania and Western New York, engaging more than 3,500 girls ages 8-17 through basketball camps, clinics, coach training and professional development. The team has received 9,000 initial payments for season ticket memberships.
“Hear the Call” at the team’s free, open-to-the-public Cleveland Sirens Fan Fest presented by ProgressiveInsurance at Edgewater Beach on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 12:00 to 5:00 PM. The event will feature entertainment, interactive activations, special appearances and exclusive merchandise and apparel.
